I love to use scented products in the bath and shower and for me, one of the most indulgent products is a scented sugar polish. However, there is one polish which I favour above all others. I know, this is quite a statement but it is rare to find a scrub with a balance of texture, scent and moisturising qualities. Well, that was until I found The Original Brown Sugar Body Polish from Fresh.

Fortnum and Mason

I stumbled on this sugar polish during a trip to Fortnum and Mason’s Beauty Hall. I had no idea that they had beauty floor but I was very glad to have found it. Better late than never.

A bit of background. The Beauty Hall was launched back in 2015 (see featured image credit:emtecnica.com).

It’s a quiet and intimate location which, in my opinion, feels more like a personalised private shopping area than a shop floor. The beauticians are attentive and full of knowledge on each and every product. I recommend a visit, especially if you want to purchase a new make-up product and want to be given time to browse as well as having specialists on hand to answer all of your questions.

Sugar Is My Friend

This polish is made with sugar as opposed to salt. The outcome, a coarse polish which does not evaporate the second it is in contact with water. This is important as I like to work the scrub into my skin and I’m often disappointed when I use salt scrubs which disappear in seconds. I prefer sugar scrubs with coarse granules that resemble the texture of demerara sugar.

Also, the brown sugar gives the polish a deep, rich caramel scent. Don’t think of sickly sugar but rather, the sugar scent you get from rum, like molasses.

Time Saver

Whilst being a polish, this product also moisturises your skin. Packed full of evening primrose, sweet almond, apricot kernel, and jojoba oils, unlike other scrubs and/or polishes, I apply this one at the end of my shower as the oils save me having to apply a moisturiser afterwards.

I usually have a separate collection of products that I use in the morning or the evening. All of which based on their aromatherapy qualities. This polish lends to being used at any time of the day. My only advice, use it at the end of your cleaning process as you do not want to was away any of the luxurious oil.

Since discovering this product the brand is now available at John Lewis, Space NK and of course Fresh standalone stores and website. This polish is incredibly luxurious. The price tag is most definitely justified.

Please do drop me a comment if you have any recommendations for coarse body polishes.
